Leapsteps for Windows

Keep your goal in view while you work.

Leapsteps for Windows turns a big goal into today's tasks, keeps a focus timer above your other windows, and keeps track of the tasks you've handed to your AI. It's free to start, and it's coming to the Microsoft Store.

How Leapsteps works, in five steps

Big goals get lost in a busy workday.

  • Your goal lives in one app and your day in another.

By the time you've switched windows, you've forgotten why the task mattered.

  • The timer hides behind everything else.

You start a focus session, open three windows and lose track of it.

  • You hand work to AI and lose the thread.

Two chats later, you can't tell which tasks are waiting on the AI and which are waiting on you.

Leapsteps keeps the goal, today's tasks, the timer and your AI handoffs in one window you can keep on top.

How it works on your PC

These are real screens from the app.

1Plan the day

Every task shows why it matters.

Click the goal icon on a task to see the goal it moves forward, down to this week's step. Click the subtask icon to see the small steps inside it, and click again to tuck them away.

  • Say your tasks out loud and get one task for each
  • Ask AI to split a big task into subtasks
Leapsteps on Windows: the Plan list with the task Outline the methods chapter open. Its goal (Finish my master's thesis by April, then Write the full first draft by March, then Finish the literature review chapter) and its three subtasks show under it. Summarize the 12 papers on remote work has a robot icon because an AI is working on it.

2Open the details

Task details beside your list, not on top of it.

Open a task and its details appear next to your list, so you can change it without losing your place. Your lists and projects stay in the sidebar.

  • Press Esc to close the details
  • Link the task to a goal, add subtasks or set it to repeat

3Work with AI

Work in turns with your AI.

Pin a handful of tasks to the Multitask timer. Hand one to your AI and it moves to AI working, with a count of how long it's been gone. Keep Leapsteps on top while your AI tool runs beside it.

  • Use whichever AI tool you like. Leapsteps keeps track of the handoff
  • Pin the window to keep it above your other apps

4Right-click

Right-click any task.

Set the due date, move the task to another list, change its priority or work with its subtasks, without opening it.

  • Ask AI for subtasks from the same menu
  • Delete a task you no longer need

Why it works

What goal research has found, and what Leapsteps does with it.

  • Harvard Business School and Wharton

    AI makes a capable teammate

In a field study at Procter & Gamble, professionals working with AI matched the work of two-person teams working without it. That's why Multitask keeps the tasks you've handed to AI beside your own.

Goals work better with a reason and a scoreboard

A review of 35 years of goal research found people do better when they know why a goal matters and can see their progress toward it. That's why every task can show the goal it serves, and finished steps stay in view.

    Progress is the best motivator

Harvard researchers who studied professionals' daily diaries found that making progress on meaningful work, even in small steps, did the most to lift their motivation. That's why finished tasks, achieved steps and your streak stay in view.
